ThredUP sounds like a great way to get new clothes for the kids!

I came across this website today and thought it sounded like a great idea. Have you ever heard of ThredUP.com? Basically you make your choice of what you would like from their listings ($5 plus shipping), then you post a box of clothing that your child no longer wears (they will send you all the shipping supplies at no charge), then when another member picks your box you send it free of charge. It is a clothes swap online! I think I am going to try it! Head over here and you can try it to. I will let you know how it works out. If anyone has tried this before, I would love your feedback!

My Families Favorite Sweet Potato Souffle Recipe!!!

I thought I would share this... my family request this quite often.

5 large cooked sweet potatoes (I wait to mash mine with the rest of the ingredients)
1 cup white sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup of 2% milk
1 stick of Unsalted Butter , melted
1 teaspoon of vanilla (I use pure vanilla)
1/2 teaspoon of salt.

Topping:
1 cup packed light brown sugar
4 tsp unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 cup Bisquik
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
marshmallows, enough to cover the top

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Lightly spray a 10x13 baking dish.

Combine the sweet potatoes, sugar, eggs, milk, butter, vanilla and salt in your mixer. Beat on medium until well mixed and there are no more lumps.  Pour mixture into the baking dish.

Topping:
Combine the brown sugar, butter, Bisquik and pecans (if desired) in a separate bowl. Crumble the topping over the sweet potato mixture and bake for 20 - 25 minutes, until the topping is golden brown. Remove from oven and top with marshmallows. Return to oven (Broil) just until the marshmallow are brown.

Serve hot and enjoy!

This day should have nothing to do with what you "get" or for that matter what you "give". Enjoy the time with family, friends and even strangers! Share a smile... they go a long way!  Make sure to add Jesus into your plans... he is the reason for the season after all!

Chocolate Rolled Sugar Cookies .. Yummy!

A friend of mine from school posted this recipe this morning. They sounded way to yummy not to share! Thanks Stefani Carter!

Chocolate Rolled Sugar Cookies

3/4 cup butter

2 cups sugar

3 eggs

2 tsp vanilla

4 oz. unsweetened chocolate (melted) -- 4 squares

3 cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

1. Cream butter and sugar in an electric mixer til fluffy.

2. Add eggs, one at a time, and beat well to blend.

3. Stir in chocolate and vanilla.

4. Combine flour and baking powder in a separate bowl and add to above mixture 1/2 cup at a time. When you get to the last cup you will probbly have to mix it in by hand.

5. If dough is soft, chill for up to 2 hours.

6. Roll out on a floured surface and cut into shapes with a knife or cookie cutters.

7. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes, or until edges are just slightly browned.

8. As they cool, these cookies get crispier. To keep them soft, frost them and store in an airtight container.

Alternative shopping

If you’re a pro at shopping on Christmas Eve, you already know this, but for the rest of you: Convenience stores sometimes house great gifts, or at least stocking stuffers when you’re in a crunch. One-stop shopping for gift cards, cosmetics, candy and small electronics can save you hours of shopping time. Consider your local Walgreens, CVS, grocery store or even gas station depending on how tight you are on time.

Check out this video of Feast Shop New York Editor TIffany Davis, who shops for her entire extended family at CVS — in one hour. The batteries are a bit of a stretch for me. But it’ll give you a better idea of the goodies you can find if you’re on the lookout.
