Last Minute Shopping Deals

More than half of you (56 percent) completed your Christmas shopping prior to this week, but almost 20 percent of you haven’t even started yet, according to a Consumer Reports holiday shopping poll. That means many of you will be out this week, with 1 in 10 people hitting the stores Christmas Eve.
For those waiting until the last minute to complete your holiday shopping list, here’s some info on what’s open when.
ToysRUs (open until 9 or 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve, depending on location): Some of the current sale prices may not be valid through Friday, but you can sign up for their mobile alertsto get Deals of the Day sent to your phone through Christmas.
Walmart (many will stay open until 8 p.m., but call your local store): Sales include a $225 8GB iPod touch with a bonus $50 iTunes gift card and a Toshiba Satellite 15.6″ Dual Core Laptop for $398.
Target (most open until 7 p.m., depending on location): Sales include a free $40 Target gift card with purchase of an 8GB iPod touch and a free $20 Target gift card with purchase of a $299.99 Xbox 360 Kinect bundle.
Best Buy (open until 5 p.m.): Order online by 3 p.m. Friday to pick up purchases in store later that day. Get a free smartphone, with options including the Droid Incredible, with purchase of a two-year plan. You can also buy an HP Laptop with AMD Athlon II Processor and 14″ Display for $349.99.

Alternative shopping

If you’re a pro at shopping on Christmas Eve, you already know this, but for the rest of you: Convenience stores sometimes house great gifts, or at least stocking stuffers when you’re in a crunch. One-stop shopping for gift cards, cosmetics, candy and small electronics can save you hours of shopping time. Consider your local Walgreens, CVS, grocery store or even gas station depending on how tight you are on time.
Check out this video of Feast Shop New York Editor TIffany Davis, who shops for her entire extended family at CVS — in one hour. The batteries are a bit of a stretch for me. But it’ll give you a better idea of the goodies you can find if you’re on the lookout.
Where are you searching for gifts on Friday? Are there non-traditional places you like to find presents?
